May 19, 2014 - Al Gaffal Traditional 60ft Dhow Race 2014 – Event

Xavier Bouin was part of the French team which for the first time participate to the Al Gaffal race normally exclusively reserved to the Emiratis teams.

The French team finished 21st after leading the race for few hours. 87 boats finished the race out of 98 participants.

This was the 24th Gaffal race which celebrate the Emirati heritage. ” Gaffal ” means the return of the Dhow coming back home from the fishing season to meet again their loved ones after many weeks out over the sea.

The French team was invited by the Al Tayer Family to the event in a fantastic gesture of generosity and sharing.
